Dual Immersion Program

Dual Language Immersion (DLI) Program at Hazel M. Bailey Elementary!

Exciting news! We are offering Transitional Kindergarten to Second Grade Dual Language Immersion (DLI) classes at Hazel M. Bailey Elementary for the 2024-2025 school year.

What is the Dual Language Immersion Program?

At Firebaugh-Las Deltas Unified School District, our Dual Language Immersion (DLI) Program brings together both English-proficient and English-learning students to develop bilingualism, biliteracy, and cultural awareness.

In TK and Kindergarten, instruction is 90% Spanish and 10% English, with a gradual shift toward more English instruction as students progress through the program.

Program Goals:

✔ Develop strong reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills in both Spanish and English
✔ Achieve high academic success in both languages
✔ Enhance critical thinking, problem-solving, and pattern recognition skills
✔ Foster cultural awareness, sensitivity, and positive self-esteem

Who Can Enroll?

Students entering Transitional Kindergarten (TK) or Kindergarten—whether they speak Spanish, English, or both—are welcome to join! Our program strives to maintain a balanced mix of language backgrounds in each classroom. Families who choose this program are encouraged to commit through 5th grade for the best bilingual learning experience.
